Saint Meletios the Righteous

Orthodox icon of Saint Meletios the Righteous on thick plywood 20mm, which does not sting and keeps its shape over time. Preparation with acrylic stucco and have been used acrylic colors. It has been covered with varnish to keep the colors undiluted in time and humidity. Hanging clip included on the back of the icon. 

St. Meletios was born in 1035 AD. in the village of Moutalaski in Cappadocia by virtuous parents who raised him according to the requirements of the Christian faith. He had a great love for the Church and the ascetic life. Therefore, he left his paternal home and went to Constantinople, to Thessaloniki and later to Kithairon where he erected a Holy Monastery. Saint Meletius was a follower of charity and a reformer of monastic life. In Attica he founded many ecclesiastical estates and was a protector and miracle worker for the inhabitants of the area. He helped the poor and healed the sick. In 1105 AD, at the age of 70, he slept peacefully, leaving behind a rich spiritual work. The Holy Skull of the Saint is located in the homonymous Holy Monastery in Kithairon. The Orthodox Christian Church commemorates him on September 1 of each year.
