Orthodox icon of Saint James Alphaeus, the Apostle (or James the Less) on thick plywood 20mm, which does not sting and keeps its shape over time. Preparation with acrylic stucco and have been used acrylic colors. It has been covered with varnish to keep the colors undiluted in time and humidity. Hanging clip included on the back of the icon.
The Apostle James, Son of Alphaeus, was the brother of the Apostle Matthew. After Pentecost, he and the Apostle Andrew preached throughout Palestine, healed the sick, and converted many to Christ. Saint James was finally crucified by pagans in Egypt. His feast is celebrated on October 9, and again on June 30 with the Twelve Apostles. In the West he is celebrated on May 3, and among Anglicans on May 1. He is the patron saint of apothecaries, druggists, dying people, the towns of Frascati and Monterotondo in Italy, fullers, milliners, pharmacists and the country of Uruguay.
