St. Demetrius was born in Peloponnese, Greece, from a respectfull family. After the suppression of the Peloponnese revolution in 1769, Demetrius was converted to Islam at a young age along with other young boys. Demetrius was an active and creative young boy and occupied the office of Prefect, acquiring a lot of money and slaves. However he was consumed by the desire to return to the faith of his fathers and decided to return to Christianity. The Turks denounced him to the Pasha of Tripoli; he was arrested in Mistra and taken prisoner to the Pasha of Tripoli, where he confessed his faith. He was imprisoned and beheaded in 1794 AD. His feast day is on May 28.

Care Instructions

My handpainted icons are made from natural materials that constantly interact with their environment. These above materials are sensitive to extreme light, heat and humidity.

Handling the icons should also be done cautiously; oils from our hands can stain their shiny surface. Dust can softly be removed with a pure white cloth.

Following the above simple instructions will guarantee that your icon will age gracefully through time and will be enjoyed by the generations to come.
