Saint Theodore of Sykeon
Saint Theodore of Sykeon
Orthodox icon of Saint Theodore of Sykeon on thick plywood 20mm, which does not sting and keeps its shape over time. Preparation with acrylic stucco and have been used acrylic colors. It has been covered with varnish to keep the colors undiluted in time and humidity. Hanging clip included on the back of the icon.
St. Theodore was born out of wedlock in Sykeon of Galatia. When he was a child, his mother gave him a soldier's belt, and told him he would be a soldier. The Great Martyr George then appeared to her and told her that God had a different plan for her son. When he grew up, he made a pilgrimage to the Holy Land. After returning home to Galatia, Theodore joined the brotherhood of a monastery. In 584 he was elected bishop of Anastasiopolis. Desiring to return to life in the monastery, after 10 years he requested retirement, which was granted on the condition that he would remain in the rank of bishop rather than a simple monk. Theodore was given the power to work miracles and to cast out demons. He was often called upon to travel to various places and work miracles and give strength to the Christians. He fell asleep in the year 613, and his feast is celebrated on April 22.

My handpainted icons are made from natural materials that constantly interact with their environment. These above materials are sensitive to extreme light, heat and humidity.
Handling the icons should also be done cautiously; oils from our hands can stain their shiny surface. Dust can softly be removed with a pure white cloth.
Following the above simple instructions will guarantee that your icon will age gracefully through time and will be enjoyed by the generations to come.
