In the year 1740 AD, during the reign of Sultan Ahmed and Ibrahim Pasha, general commander of Asia Minor, a decree was issued to gather Christian boys in concentration camps. Among them was the orphan Theocharis. One day, however, the judge of Neapolis Cappadocia, saw Theocharis in the camp, he liked him and took him to his house to take care of his animals. The piety and beauty of Theocharis made the judge propose that he become his son-in-law, but after first becoming a Muslim. Theocharis refused. The Ottoman judge found the answer insulting and threatened him with torture. Then Theocharis ran to the Church of Agios Georgios and received the Holy Mysteries. When the judge again proposed marriage to his daughter, Theocharis steadfastly refused. Then after severe torture, they led him out of the city of Neapoli, where they stoned him and then hanged him, at noon on August 20, 1740 AD. His feast day is on August 20.
