St. Taisia was born in Alexandria, Egypt. Her mother was a vulgar woman, who wanted a lot of wealth, and didn't hesitate to take advantage of her daughter to get it. Thus, Taisia at the age of 17 was dragged down the path of dishonor. She became rich as a prostitute. Honest people detested her and no family door was open to her. She had become an object of carnal satisfaction and nothing more. Then Taisia fell into great sorrow; when St. Paphnoutius of Sidon learned of her mental state he visited here and with the God's grace healed her. Taisia threw all her riches into the sea, because the price of dishonor was not worth using in the Holy work of charity. Since then she lived poor, but rich in faith, repentance, sobriety, prayer, obedience, humility and kindness. She was accepted into a pious group of women and died caring for sick and helpless people. Her feast day is on October 8.

My handpainted icons are made from natural materials that constantly interact with their environment. These above materials are sensitive to extreme light, heat and humidity.
