St. Angela was born in a small town in Lombardy in 1474. At the age of 10 she was left orphan and went to live with her uncle in the town of Salo. She joined the Third Order of St. Francis. When her uncle died she returned to her home and started an association of virgins who were to devote their lives to the religious training of young girls. In 1524, while traveling to the Holy Land, she suddenly became blind; despite this, she continued her journey and was cured of her blindness on her return, while praying before a crucifix, at the same place where she had been blinded. In 1535, St. Angela gathered with 12 young women and committed themselves in the founding of the Company of St. Ursula. Her goal was to elevate family life through the Christian education of future wives and mothers. In 1537, she was elected ''Mother and Mistress'' of the group. In 1540 St. Angela died in Brescia and was buried at the Church of St. Afra. Her feast day is on 27 January and is the patron saint of sickness, handicapped people, loss of parents, courage, strength and determination.

Care Instructions
My handpainted icons are made from natural materials that constantly interact with their environment. These above materials are sensitive to extreme light, heat and humidity.
Handling the icons should also be done cautiously; oils from our hands can stain their shiny surface. Dust can softly be removed with a pure white cloth.
Following the above simple instructions will guarantee that your icon will age gracefully through time and will be enjoyed by the generations to come.
