St. Leonard was born on May 19, 496 AD. He was of noble Frankish origin and was in the court of King Clovis I. He embraced the Christian faith and, together with King Clovis I, were baptized Christians from St. Remigius. St. Leonard asked King Clovis to grant him the right to free prisoners he deemed worthy at any time. After refusing the throne of the Bishop, he was ordained monk and lived for a while at the Micy Monastery near Orleans. Later St. Leonard leaves the monastery and lives like an hermit in the forest of Limousine. Through the power of his prayers, the Queen of the Franks had a son and in return he was given large lands in Noblac, 21 kilometers from Limoges. There Leonard founded a monastery. St. Leonard died in 559 AD. His feast day is on November 6 and is the patron saint of prisoners, political prisoners, prisoners of war, hostages and pregnant women.

Care Instructions

My handpainted icons are made from natural materials that constantly interact with their environment. These above materials are sensitive to extreme light, heat and humidity.

Handling the icons should also be done cautiously; oils from our hands can stain their shiny surface. Dust can softly be removed with a pure white cloth.

Following the above simple instructions will guarantee that your icon will age gracefully through time and will be enjoyed by the generations to come.
