Orthodox icon of Saint Joanna the Myrrhbearer on thick plywood 20mm, which does not sting and keeps its shape over time. Preparation with acrylic stucco and have been used acrylic colors. It has been covered with varnish to keep the colors undiluted in time and humidity. Hanging clip included on the back of the icon.
Saint Joanna, the wife of Chusa the steward of King Herod, was one of the women who followed Christ during his ministry (mentioned twice in the Gospel of Luke), and she was among the Myrrh-bearing Women who came to the Lord's tomb on the morning of Pascha. According to tradition, Joanna recovered the head of Saint John the Forerunner after Herodias had disposed of it. She is commemorated on June 27 and on the Sunday of the Myrrh-bearing Women.
