Saint Jacob of Hamatoura
Saint Jacob of Hamatoura
Orthodox icon of Saint Jacob of Hamatoura or Al-Hamtouri on thick plywood 20mm, which does not sting and keeps its shape over time. Preparation with acrylic stucco and have been used acrylic colors. It has been covered with varnish to keep the colors undiluted in time and humidity. Hanging clip included on the back of the icon.
Late in the 13th century, at the Monastery of the Dormition of the Theotokos of Hamatoura, St. Jacob began his ascetic life. Later, when the Monastery was destroyed by the Mamelukes, he re-established monasticism along the perimeter of the ruined Monastery. In time, he rebuilt the Monastery. When the Mamelukes failed to convert him to Islam, they dragged Jacob, along with other monks, to Tripoli of Lebanon and handed him to the ruler. For almost a year, he endured tremendous tortures. Finally he was beheaded and burned his body. His feast day is on October 13.

My handpainted icons are made from natural materials that constantly interact with their environment. These above materials are sensitive to extreme light, heat and humidity.
Handling the icons should also be done cautiously; oils from our hands can stain their shiny surface. Dust can softly be removed with a pure white cloth.
Following the above simple instructions will guarantee that your icon will age gracefully through time and will be enjoyed by the generations to come.
