St. Euthymius was born in Opso of Minor Asia in 824. His parents were pious Christians. When he reached the proper age he married Euphrosyne and had one daughter, but he wanted to follow the monastic life. He left his house and homeland and went by foot to an unknown land. He arrived at the Mountain Olympus in Bithynia and decided to remain there and to live the rest of his life like an ascetic together with other monks. After a while he left and went to the Pissadinon Monastery, where the abbot of the monastery Nikolaos made him his attendance. When Patriarch Fotios removed abbot Nikolaos from his position, Euthymius left the monastery and went to Mount Athos. Before his journey to Mount Athos he met Theodoros the Elder, who ordained him a monk. On Mount Athos he met the monk Theostiriktos and together found a cave; there they started praying and fasting. When he learned that Theodoros the Elder was very sick, he left his cave and went to a hospital in Thessaloniki, where after a few days Theodoros died. Euthymius returned to Mount Athos and, together with two other monks, went to the island of St. Eustratius. Because of the Agarin pirates he left the island and went to the mountains of Polygyrou, where he built a skete together with his students. After that he went to Peristeres, where he found the ancient church of Apostole Andreas, and rebuilt it and made it a monastery. He remained abbot of the monastery for 14 years; he left the monastery and went to the island Gioura of North Sporades, where he spent the last days of his life. He died in 898 and his feast day is on October 15.

My handpainted icons are made from natural materials that constantly interact with their environment. These above materials are sensitive to extreme light, heat and humidity.
Handling the icons should also be done cautiously; oils from our hands can stain their shiny surface. Dust can softly be removed with a pure white cloth.
Following the above simple instructions will guarantee that your icon will age gracefully through time and will be enjoyed by the generations to come.
