St. Photius was the nephew of St. Anicetus and they were born in Nicomedia. When Diocletian wanted to start a persecution against the Christians, he spoke in front of the Senate with the most insulting words against them. Aniketus was also present there, and when he heard these words of the king, not only was he not afraid, but he stood up with courage, declared that he was a Christian. Diocletian, offended by Aniketus' remark, ordered to be thrown to a terrible lion. But the lion stopped his wild rush and tamed like a sheep. Then there was a great earthquake and many pagan statues collapsed. Then they put him on a wheel with a fire burning underneath. But miraculously, the wheel stopped and the fire went out. Then ran and was embraced by his nephew Photius. As soon as the pagans saw this, they tied them both inside the so-called bath of Antony. And after they overheated the water, they both gloriously surrendered their spirits. Their feast day is on July 12.

Care Instructions

My handpainted icons are made from natural materials that constantly interact with their environment. These above materials are sensitive to extreme light, heat and humidity.

Handling the icons should also be done cautiously; oils from our hands can stain their shiny surface. Dust can softly be removed with a pure white cloth.

Following the above simple instructions will guarantee that your icon will age gracefully through time and will be enjoyed by the generations to come.
