St. Stephen was born in Damascus and was the nephew of St. John the Damascene. At the age of 10 Stephen became a monk at the Lavra of St. Sabba in the 8th century AD. His ascetic life was accompanied by a great love of study and remarkable skill in Holy poetry. He loved the struggles for orthodox truth, and willingly took part in the war against heresies. He often avoided all human contact and lived completely alone in various deserted places. There he loved to observe nature and commune with prayer. Finally, the deserter Stephen Sabbaite, also bore the burdens of the bishop, after persistent pleas. He died teaching and building the people with his good, blameless and philanthropic example. His feast day is on July 13.

My handpainted icons are made from natural materials that constantly interact with their environment. These above materials are sensitive to extreme light, heat and humidity.
Handling the icons should also be done cautiously; oils from our hands can stain their shiny surface. Dust can softly be removed with a pure white cloth.
Following the above simple instructions will guarantee that your icon will age gracefully through time and will be enjoyed by the generations to come.
