It has been covered with varnish to keep the colors undiluted in time and humidity. Hanging clip included on the back of the icon.

St. Pancras was born in Synnada around 289 to parents of Roman citizenship. He was orphaned in a very young age and was entrusted to his uncle Dionysius' care. They both moved to Rome and converted to Christianity. During the persecution of Christians by Emperor Diocletian he was brought before the authorities and asked to perform a sacrifice to the Roman gods. Diocletian, impressed with the boy's determination to resist, promised him wealth and power, but Pancras refused, and finally the emperor ordered him to be beheaded on the Via Aurelia, on May 12, 303 AD. He is the patron saint of children, jobs and health and the Italian city San Pancrazio Salentino.

Care Instructions

My handpainted icons are made from natural materials that constantly interact with their environment. These above materials are sensitive to extreme light, heat and humidity.

Handling the icons should also be done cautiously; oils from our hands can stain their shiny surface. Dust can softly be removed with a pure white cloth.

Following the above simple instructions will guarantee that your icon will age gracefully through time and will be enjoyed by the generations to come.
