St. Alexander was born in Asia and received his education at Constantinople. He spent some time in military service but he left the world and accepted monastic tonsure in one of the Syrian monasteries. He spent 4 years at the monastery and then dwell in the desert, where he spent 7 years. St. Alexander converted the local city ruler Rabul, who afterwards was consecrated bishop and for 30 years occupied the bishop's cathedra of Edessa. The Saint again went into the desert and a monastery emerged with 400 monks. The monastery received the name ''the Unsleeping Ones'', because the monks sang praise to God throughout the day and night. He guided the monastery for 12 years. He moved to Constantinople, where he founded a monastery of ''Unceasing Vigilance''. He died in 430 and his feast day is on February 23.

My handpainted icons are made from natural materials that constantly interact with their environment. These above materials are sensitive to extreme light, heat and humidity.

Handling the icons should also be done cautiously; oils from our hands can stain their shiny surface. Dust can softly be removed with a pure white cloth.

Following the above simple instructions will guarantee that your icon will age gracefully through time and will be enjoyed by the generations to come.
