Saint Melitine lived in Marcianopolis of Thrace when Antoninus was emperor of Rome. Melitina was distinguished for her warm faith in Christianity and preached with passion the Gospel. When the ruler Antiochus was informed of her action, he ordered her arrest. Antiochus tried to make her convert but she remained steadfast in her faith in Christ. In fact, she managed to make the ruler's wife a Christian as a result of which she was martyred by beheading. The tomb of Saint Melitine was never found. In the village of Kallithea of Lemnos there is a church dedicated to the Saint. The Orthodox Christian Church celebrates her memory on September 16 of each year.

My handpainted icons are made from natural materials that constantly interact with their environment. These above materials are sensitive to extreme light, heat and humidity.
Handling the icons should also be done cautiously; oils from our hands can stain their shiny surface. Dust can softly be removed with a pure white cloth.
Following the above simple instructions will guarantee that your icon will age gracefully through time and will be enjoyed by the generations to come.
