Orthodox icon of Saint Makarios or Macarius the Roman on thick plywood 20mm, which does not sting and keeps its shape over time. Preparation with acrylic stucco and have been used acrylic colors. It has been covered with varnish to keep the colors undiluted in time and humidity. Hanging clip included on the back of the icon.
St. Makarios was born in Rome and his family was wealthy. When he reached the age to be married, his parents betrothed him against his will. Instead Makarios entering the bridal chamber, he fled to the home of a pious widow, where he spent 7 days weeping and entreating God to help him. When he left her house, Makarios met an old man, who ordered to accompany him. Makarios followed him for 3 years, until one day they came to a cave, and then the old man vanished. In the cave he subjected his flesh to severe fasting, vigils and absolute self-denial for many years. The precise date of the Saint's repose is not known. His feast day is on October 23.
