Orthodox icon of Saint Lygeri the Chiopolitis and New Martyr on thick plywood 20mm, which does not sting and keeps its shape over time. Preparation with acrylic stucco and have been used acrylic colors. It has been covered with varnish to keep the colors undiluted in time and humidity. Hanging clip included on the back of the icon.
St. Lygeri was born in the village Anavatos, Chios in the 19th century. She was a very beautiful girl and that arose the love attraction of the Turkish Governor, who wanted to marry her. Despite the promises for wealth and honors, Lygeri refused to marry him and changed her faith. The Turkish Governor send his soldiers at her village and took her by force, in order to lead her before the Turkish Governor. On their way, Lygeri managed to grab a tree with all her strenght and confessing her true faith in Christ. Then one of the soldiers beheaded her and presented it before of the Turkish Governor. The Governor seeing the head of the Saint was so upset that he beheaded the soldier. From the blood of the Saint her mother draw three crosses on the nearby rocks, one of them are still preserved until today. Her feast day is on September 6.
