Saint James the Apostle and the Brother of God
Saint James the Apostle and the Brother of God
Orthodox icon of Saint James the Apostle and Brother of the Lord on thick plywood 20mm, which does not sting and keeps its shape over time. Preparation with acrylic stucco and have been used acrylic colors. It has been covered with varnish to keep the colors undiluted in time and humidity. Hanging clip included on the back of the icon.
Saint James was a kinsman of the Lord Jesus, either His half-brother (a son of Joseph by his first wife) or His cousin (a son of Joseph's brother Cleopas). In any case, the Scriptures refer to him as the Lord's brother, as was the idiom of the Jews at that time. He is also known as James the Less and James the Just. He was the first bishop of Jerusalem, appointed to this position by the Apostles, and served with great holiness and righteousness. One year at Passover, he climbed to the top of the Temple in Jerusalem and proclaimed the divinity of Jesus and His Second Coming. The high priest Ananias had him thrown off the Temple and stoned to death, but James prayed for them until the moment of his death. His feast is celebrated on October 23.

My handpainted icons are made from natural materials that constantly interact with their environment. These above materials are sensitive to extreme light, heat and humidity.
Handling the icons should also be done cautiously; oils from our hands can stain their shiny surface. Dust can softly be removed with a pure white cloth.
Following the above simple instructions will guarantee that your icon will age gracefully through time and will be enjoyed by the generations to come.
