Orthodox icon of Saint Isaiah the founder of Kykkos Monastery on thick plywood 20mm, which does not sting and keeps its shape over time. The informations to where St. Isaiah was born, who his parents were or what his education was, are unknown. We know that in the 11th century he lived as an ascetic in a cave in the area where there is now the Kykkos Monastery in Cyprus. Duke Manuel Voutomitis and Emperor Alexios Komnenos handed to St. Isaiah the holy icon of Panagia painted by the Apostle Luke and money to build the Monastery Kykkos. St. Isaiah, after living the rest of his life in the monastery, died peacefully. His feast day is on September 10.
