St. Ananias was a disciple of Christ and lived in Damascus. When Saul, later known as Apostle Paul, was on his way to Damascus to persecute the Christians, he encountered Christ and was overwhelmed by the brilliance of the Divine Light. Blinded, Saul was instructed to go to Damascus to the house of Ananias. He restored Saul's sight and baptized him. Later Ananias was consecrated Bishop of Damascus. He wrought many miracles in Damascus and Eleutheropolis and the authorities regarded him as a dangerous man. The Governor Lucian had him beaten with sinews of oxen, then had his sides lacerated and his flesh burnt with flaming torches. Finally, they take him outside the city walls, and was stoned. His feast day is on October 1.

My handpainted icons are made from natural materials that constantly interact with their environment. These above materials are sensitive to extreme light, heat and humidity.
Handling the icons should also be done cautiously; oils from our hands can stain their shiny surface. Dust can softly be removed with a pure white cloth.
Following the above simple instructions will guarantee that your icon will age gracefully through time and will be enjoyed by the generations to come.
